ABOUT ME

I’m a highly qualified AFL teacher with 15 years’ experience teaching Arabic as a foreign language in various settings, including academies, training centers and privately. I’ve mainly worked in Cairo. I especially have a lot of experience with American, British and European learners, but I am, of course, able (and more than willing!) to teach all nationalities. I’m a native speaker of Arabic born in Egypt.

I got a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and studied a Master's in Islamic Studies.

I enjoy meeting people from all over the globe, learning about their country and culture, and telling them about mine. I’ve learnt a lot from my learners over the years – and obviously hope they feel the same! I love teaching and get a lot of satisfaction from helping students to achieve not only their language goals, but their wider goals in life, whether it’s to get a new job, complete an academic course, make new friends, feel more confident, etc. I think that I’m very supportive and a good resource to my learners generally. I’m always encouraging them and helping them solve problems if necessary, to make sure that they get what they want out of their time in Cairo.

I speak English fluently and I find it easy to talk to different kinds of people of all ages and can quickly make students feel at ease with me. I try to make lessons as fun and interesting as possible (and effective of course!), and I think my students enjoy them. I think this is really important. After all, there’s nothing worse than a very serious or boring lesson after a long day at work or school.
